Lincolnshire volunteer feted:A Lincolnshire woman has been honored for her volunteer work at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. At an annual volunteer luncheon, Barbara Whipple was given the Pauline Christie Award. She has volunteered at the hospital twice a week for 30 years, according to a news release. The award is named after the woman who organized the hospital's first volunteer program in the 1950s.Host families for ballplayers:Local families are being solicited to provide housing for 25 players on the Lake County Fielders minor league baseball team. Fielders officials say host families have become a minor-league baseball tradition and families are asked to provide a private bedroom. Meals and transportation are not required, but are allowed. In return, the Fielders will provide a host family with the equivalent of four season tickets and accompanying holder privileges and invitations. The team also won the title in 2009.New dean at Scholl College:Nancy L. Parsley, DPM, has been appointed as the new dean of the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago. Parsley is the first female dean of Scholl College. She succeeds Terence B. Albright, DPM, who is retiring. Parsley's honors include being named one of the top 100 most influential podiatrists in 2007, Scholl College Alumnus of the Year and Presidential Honor in 2003, and Northern Virginia Podiatric Residency Program Alumnus of the Year, 1998-99. Her term begins this July, school officials said.
