Good Shepherd auxiliary gives scholarships

The Auxiliary of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital awarded 26 scholarships to persons working toward a degree in a health field. Recipients are:

• Medicine, M.D. degree: Gregory Brown, Palatine; Alyssa Greiman, Barrington; Amara Hussain, Long Grove; Allesandra Musetti, Tower Lakes; and John Raseman, Barrington

• Nursing, Ed. D. degree: Bonnie Schleder, Kildeer

• Nursing, M.S.N. degree: Judi Forner, Algonquin

• Nursing, B.S.N. degree: Deena Hasan, Algonquin; Jessica Horist, McHenry; Caitlin Murach, Fox River Grove; Eunice Satorre, Round Lake; and Janalyn Tasch, Hawthorn Woods

• Nursing, two year R.N. program: Bobbie Jo Clark, Round Lake; Brianne Lobocki, Cary

• Physician Assistant: Lauren Fraczek, Barringrton

• Pre-Medicine: Nashrah Maryum, Lake in the Hills; Frank Migliarese, Hawthorn Woods; Jennifer Schrieber, Hawthorn Woods; and Joseph Tasch, Hawthorn Woods;

• Pharmacy: Jennifer Pichlik, Deer Park

• Speech Pathology: Heather Zorn, Johnsburg

• Physical Therapy: Tiffany Moyer, Crystal Lake

• Occupational Therapy: Kelly Cook, Mundelei; and Katie Wodziak, Mundelein;

• Food, Nutrition, Dietetics, B.S. degree: Kara Sotiroff, Woodstock

• Sonography: Jacqueline Blakely, Crystal Lake

All scholarships were funded by the auxiliary with four exceptions. The Carol Freitag Scholarship, established in memory of Good Shepherd Hospital nurse Carol Freitag by hospital nurses, staff and her family, was awarded to Judi Forner. A second Carol Freitag scholarship was awarded to Brianne Lobocki in memory of Sue Pearson. During Nurses Week the nursing staff raised special funds for scholarships in memory of dedicated Good Shepherd Hospital nurses, awarded to Bonnie Schleder, and to Jennifer Pichlik in memory of dedicated Good Shepherd Hospital employees.

The Auxiliary of Good Shepherd Hospital has awarded scholarships since 1984 totaling over $450,000 from funds raised through Art in the Barn, Catchpenny resale shop, Pear Tree Gift Shop and Pear Tree Café.
