Race for Prospect Heights mayor could be 2009 rerun
The race for Prospect Heights mayor could be a rerun between Mayor Dolores “Dolly” Vole and Nicholas “Nick” Helmer, who she defeated in 2009 to finish a term left vacant by the resignation of former mayor Rodney Pace.
Both Vole and Helmer filed to run for mayor on Monday, the first day of filing for the April 5, 2011 election. Filing will close at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20.
Aldermanic races are also contested.
Richard G. Hamen is seeking re-election in Prospect Heights' 1st Ward. He is opposed by the man he defeated four years ago, Luis Mendez.
John Styler is seeking re-election in Ward 2; Robert Scott Williamson has filed for alderman in Ward 3.
In the 4th Ward, Patrick J. Ludvigsen, former interim mayor and former alderman, is challenging incumbent Gerald T. Anderson, who has also filed in the 4th Ward.
Richard D. Tibbits is seeking another term as city treasurer.
At the Prospect Heights Park District, four seats as commissioner will be on the ballot. Patrick Ludvigsen, father of the aldermanic candidate, is seeking re-election, as is John E. Barrett.
Michael E. Nauert, a former commissioner, has filed, as has Lisa M. Gould.
In Prospect Heights Elementary District 23 where four seats will be elected, all four incumbents filed Monday. They are Carol Botwinski, Jeff Bowes, David Hess and Mary-Lynn Peters.
