46 golfers in Des Plaines' Chili Open
Forty-six golfers played six holes of golf in the annual Des Plaines Park District Chili Open Saturday, Jan. 9, at Lake Park Golf Course, Howard Avenue, west of Lee Street.
The par three course was ablaze in the winter sunshine as the golfers traversed mounds of snow and biting wind off the lake before heading into the clubhouse for chili and hot chocolate.
Prizes were awarded in four categories. The best score for men was a tie between Phil Bogusz and Lester Schmid both with a score of 13. Kathy Bloom and Currency Kerndt were the winners in the women's category with scores of 22 and 25 respectively. A prize for the "Most Honest Score" was also awarded to Garrett Norris.
