Former DuPage bank teller gets 30 days in jail for theft

A former Hinsdale branch Bank of America teller was sentenced to 30 days in jail Wednesday for a scheme that netted her more than $23,000.

Assistant DuPage County State's Attorney William Wu said 23-year-old Latoya White stole the money over several months during her employment with the bank. The thefts came to light during routine accounting practices.

The Brookfield resident was charged nearly a year ago, shortly after being let go from her position. The thefts were discovered following her departure from the bank. She pleaded guilty to the theft in April.

Wu said White will receive credit for two days in jail she served following her arrest in July 2009. White also will be allowed to go to work during her jail stint, but must return to the jail every night to serve her sentence. White may only have to serve half the sentence if she is a model inmate.

She also was ordered to pay back the $23,760 she admitted she stole from the bank.
