Stevenson's Harris, Engel named All-Americans

Stevenson seniors Matt Harris and Tim Engel have been named All-Americans by U.S. Lacrosse.

Harris and Engel join Stevenson graduates and current University of Virginia team member Jared Puzes (Class of 2008) and Jason Duboe (Class of 2006), who just finished a sterling career at Harvard University, as U.S. Lacrosse All-Americans. This is the first time that two Stevenson lacrosse players have earned All-America honors in the same season.

Harris and Engel also earned first-team all-state honors from the Illinois High School Lacrosse Association and were first-team all-North Suburban Conference selection.

Harris will play for Syracuse University next year, while Engel will be part of the Hartford University team.

Also earning first-team IHSLA all-state honors for Stevenson this season were Kevin Harris, Matt's younger brother, and Max Huber, both juniors. They also were first-team all-conference selections.

Huber's older brother, Jack, and Vince Manglardi, also were named to the NSC first team. Both are seniors.

Other Stevenson all-conference selections were Adam Cook, Matt Stritof and Scott Kruyswyk, all on the second team, and Ryan Spitzer, who was an honorable mention choice.

Capping the list of honorees for Stevenson was head coach Brian Larsen, who was named the IHSLA coach of the year after guiding the Patriots to a 16-2 record, the conference championship, and a No. 3 seed in the IHSLA state tournament.
