Early morning fire damages home in Lake in the Hills

No one was injured in an early morning fire that started in a Lake in the Hills home's attached garage, authorities said.

Authorities said a neighbor of the home in the 1100 block of Pine Street phoned 911 at about 3:45 a.m. saying a fire had started inside the garage.

Authorities said in a news release that crews were at the single-story home within minutes and that fire had spread through the front of the garage.

The fire was under control within 30 minutes, authorities said, and homeowners had escaped prior to fire crews arriving on the scene.

Investigators on the scene have not yet determined the cause of the fire, authorities said, and damage amounts were unavailable.

The homeowner told firefighters that there were no working smoke detectors in the home. Authorities did not say how the family became aware of the fire and got out.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District received assistance from Huntley and Crystal Lake fire departments.
