Emotional intelligence author at Barrington High April 4
Respected author and speaker Linda Lantieri will be at Barrington High School at 7 p.m. April 4, part of the annual community book read sponsored by the District 220 Educational Foundation and the PTO Presidents Council.
Lantieri has more than 40 years of experience as a teacher and principal in East Harlem, and is a faculty member at Hunter College in New York City. She has helped children and adults resolve conflicts, including those who were traumatized by the tragedies of Sept. 11, 2011.
From museums to motion pictures, schools to the streets of urban centers, Lantieri shares a plan to raise better citizens without sacrificing academic achievement by embedding emotional intelligence and resilience in the culture of educating children.
Lantieri is a Fulbright Scholar, keynote speaker and internationally known expert in social and emotional learning and nurturing the inner life of teachers and children. Her most recent book, “Building Emotional Intelligence: Techniques to Cultivate Inner Strength in Children,” is on display and available at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore in Deer Park.
