Des Plaines man accused of possessing child porn

A 45-year-old Des Plaines resident is accused of possession of Internet child pornography following an investigation that began in Mount Prospect, authorities said.

Bruce Liedke, 45, of the 1300 block of Rand Road, has been charged with 10 counts each of possession of child pornography and aggravated possession of child pornography, according to Des Plaines police.

The Mount Prospect Police Department notified the Des Plaines Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division about a possible child pornography case initially discovered in Mount Prospect’s jurisdiction.

Des Plaines police took over the investigation because the suspect lived in town and Des Plaines has detectives assigned to the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

On March 2, Des Plaines detectives seized a computer, internal hard drives, and digital media owned and possessed by Liedke. The seizure led to a search warrant being executed for a forensic analysis of the digital media.

Liedke was initially charged with one count of aggravated possession of child pornography. But after the forensic analysis was completed, the charges were upped to 20 felony counts of aggravated possession of child pornography and possession of child pornography, police said.

Liedke posted bond and is set to appear at 9 a.m. April 16 at the Skokie Courthouse.
