Fundraiser Monday for ill Barrington youth

Sponsors are hoping more than 150 children will attend a Read-A-Thon fundraiser Monday for the daughter of a Barrington elementary schoolteacher who has a rare disease.

Sara Kennicott's daughter, Bridget, 5, has been diagnosed with Late Infantile Neuronal Ceriod Lipofuscinosis, commonly known as Batten Disease. The event, taking place on a school holiday, will raise funds for the Hope 4 Bridget Foundation to raise money for research, and the Bridget Kennicott Trust. It's open to all elementary schoolchildren in the Barrington community.

It will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lake Barrington Field House, 28156 NorthPointe Parkway. Mystery readers include: Mrs. and Miss Illinois, Barrington High School athletes, drama club and art club students, fire and police, local teachers and area military personnel. Many vendors have donated raffle prizes. Admission is $10 and includes lunch.

Information is at hope4bridget.com or call Barbara Aievoli at (847) 302-8391.
