8 children escape Woodstock house fire

No one was injured Wednesday afternoon when a fire torched an attached garage of a Woodstock home that was also operating as a daycare facility, authorities said.

The fire broke out at about 2:40 p.m. in the garage of the home on the 14500 block of Kishwaukee Valley Road while eight children were in the building, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

All eight children safely exited the residence but, the fire destroyed the attached garage and two vehicles that were inside, according to police.

The investigation into the fire in underway, but police said it does not appear to be suspicious.

Members of the McHenry County Sheriff's Office coordinated with parents during the afternoon to pick up their children from the residence.
