Northbrook-based Kenny Construction Co. named Michael Africk and Michael Futch to the company’s board of directors.

Both men bring decades of experience and leadership in the construction industry to the Kenny board.

Africk joined the Kenny board in 2011. He has more than 30 years of public accounting experience in the construction industry. Currently, Africk is the principal in charge of the Chicago office of LarsonAllen and serves on the firm’s construction and real estate national leadership team. His experience includes negotiating and consulting with contractors on mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, implementing strategies to improve profitability and bonding capacity, tax strategies for succession planning, development of forecasting and financing plans as well as more traditional services. Africk also has served as an “expert witness” in connection with contractor litigation.

Futch joined the board in January.  He is the former vice president, general counsel and secretary for Granite Construction Inc., one of the largest publicly held construction firms in the nation. He is a graduate of Cornell Law School and is experienced in all aspects of construction and public contract law. Futch is also a licensed civil engineer in the state of California. He is an expert in corporate compliance and business ethics programs in the construction industry.

Futch has been featured in several publications including Constructor Magazine, Diversity & the Bar, and in 2009 was named by Black Enterprise Magazine as one of America’s Top Corporate Counsels.

“The Kenny family and the Kenny Construction Company are very excited about Mike Africk and Mike Futch joining our board,” said company President John E. Kenny Jr. “Their experience, leadership and vision will help us pursue a new strategic initiative in a very difficult economy.”
