Live better with $1.92 more?
Gov. Pat Quinn sure pat himself on the back in signing a bill increasing the Earned Income Tax Credit in which the average family will keep about $100 more per year. That equals $1.92 per week. Are we supposed to think this will do anything to help the plight of lower-wage earners in this state? What a joke.
This governor is proving to be more and more of an ineffective and completely inept politician. Instead of an extremely paltry tax cut, how about enacting legislation that would truly help the poor like lowering the state sales tax and gas tax and lowering tolls and the cost of vehicle registrations? Those would actually help the working poor instead of floating them less than $2 more per week.
