Learn about bat monitoring in Lake County

Melissa Alderson, environmental educator for the Lake County Forest Preserve District, will discuss the district's Acoustic Bat Monitoring Program from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at Ryerson Woods in Riverwoods.

A special kids-only bats program will be available for children ages 5-12 during the adult presentation.

For five years the bat monitoring program has engaged nonscientists to collect important data, sometimes called Citizen Science.

Free registration is required at LCFPD.org/calendar. Participants should meet at the Ryerson Welcome Center, 21950 N. Riverwoods Road, Riverwoods.
