Funeral set for 4-year-old Woodstock girl killed in crash

The funeral for a 4-year-old Woodstock girl killed in a holiday weekend crash is set for noon Thursday at Davenport Family Funeral Home in Crystal Lake. A visitation will take place from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Drive.

Daniela Gomez died when she was thrown from her family’s 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo after it was hit by a 2011 Infiniti QX56 sedan at the intersection of Millstream Road and Route 176 in unincorporated Seneca Township in McHenry County. The crash happened about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

An initial McHenry County Sheriff’s Department investigation found that the southbound Infiniti failed to stop at a stop sign on Millstream Road, hitting the Jeep that was traveling west on Route 176.

Vehicles on Route 176 are not required to stop at the intersection.

Other passengers in the Jeep included 33-year-old Janet Gomez, Francisco Gomez, 30, and a 1-year-old. Janet Gomez and the infant were taken to Woodstock Centegra Hospital with minor injuries. Francisco Gomez refused treatment at the scene.

The driver of the Infiniti, Leonardo Martinez, 43, of New Lenox, and his 34-year-old passenger were also taken to Woodstock Centegra Hospital with minor injuries.

No charges had been filed as of late Tuesday afternoon.

McHenry County Deputy Coroner Robert Locke Tuesday said Daniela died from multiple injuries.
