Elburn kids get limo ride to school

When Deloris and Jim O'Connell of Elburn thought about how to make the first day of school special for two of their grandchildren, they didn't have to look very far.

Deloris and Jim have been parishioners of St. Gall Catholic Church for more than 70 years and have always attended the dances, dinners and special events that the Elburn church holds. The annual gala was no exception, so when they saw the “Have the Elburn Village President Take Your Child to School in a Limo,” the couple knew they wanted to win that silent auction package. And they did. They decided to have the limousine pick up two of their grandchildren, Joseph Turk and Mariann O'Connell, and take them to school.

Elburn Village President David Anderson was delighted to hear that he was escorting two children this year. The limousine picked the children up at the grandparents' house. Anderson and the two children took a nice drive through town and then the children were dropped off at Blackberry Creek Elementary School in Elburn.

Elburn resident Jeff Hiltunen and West Suburban Limousine in Winfield donated the limousine ride again this year.

Joseph Turk said, “Thanks to my Grandma and Grandpa O'Connell, this was the best first day of school ever, something I'll remember for the rest of my life.”
