Burlington Central upends North Boone

Brenda Thasavong scored 22 points and grabbed 8 rebounds Monday night to lead Burlington Central's girls basketball team to a 55-41 Big Northern East win at North Boone.

Alison Colby added 13 points for the Rockets (11-13, 5-3) and Jessica Laird had 10. Central led 33-16 at halftime.

"We had some great post play from Brenda tonight, as well as Ali Colby," said BC coach Jenna Real. "The girls played well together tonight and started out with energy and intensity which got us off to an early lead that we were able to maintain for the remainder of the game."

The Rockets host the same North Boone team tonight as they attempt to climb closer to the .500 mark for the season.

Wheeling 53, Huntley 42: Sam Andrews had 19 points and 5 rebounds to lead the Red Raiders in this nonconference loss. Abbey Shaw added 9 points, while Haley Ream had 5 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals for Huntley (11-11).
