Cary man charged with exposing himself to four girls
A 43-year-old man from Cary has been accused of flashing four girls at or around Spring Hill Mall, police said.
Fedor Jaroszenko, of the 6700 block of Hawthorne Drive, was charged Sunday with two felony counts of sexual exploitation of a child, as two girls are 12 years old, one misdemeanor count of sexual exploitation of a child and three misdemeanor counts of public indecency.
Prosecutors, meanwhile, continue to investigate whether to charge Jaroszenko with sexual exploitation of a child in a case that involves a 13-year-old girl at the mall. Additional charges could follow, prosecutors said.
Jaroszenko’s bail was set at $100,000 Monday morning, which means he needs $10,000 to get out of jail while his case is pending. As of Monday evening, he was unable to post bond and remained in custody at the Kane County lockup.
Police were called to the mall at 5:11 p.m. Sunday, on reports of a man who had exposed himself to a pair of 12-year-old girls outside the now-shuttered Old Country Buffet in the West Dundee portion of the mall, said Sgt. Steve Fletter.
Police learned about a second exposure that occurred at 6 p.m. in the same place and that involved a 13-year-old girl, Fletter said.
“(Her) mom was inside the mall and the girl was outside the mall,” Fletter said. “They were waiting on a ride ... and so the mom did not actually witness the exposure, but she witnessed the suspect go toward the victim.”
About an hour later outside the Wendy’s restaurant near the mall in Carpentersville, Jaroszenko exposed himself again to one of the 12-year-old girls from before and this time, her 14-year-old sister was with her, Fletter said.
Police said Jaroszenko has no prior history of doing this at the mall.
“We have routine patrols at the mall — it’s not an unsafe place to be,” Fletter said. “It seems like a lot more (activity) because of the victims. They were all in a cluster.”
Jaroszenko is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 15 at the Kane County Judicial Center. If found guilty on one of the felony charges, he could spend between one and three years in prison.
