Wood Dale police seek robbery suspect
Wood Dale police are seeking help from the public to find a man who committed an armed robbery Tuesday at a tobacco store in the city.
The suspect entered the store near Irving Park Road and Ash Street around 7:20 p.m. and displayed a revolver to the cashier, Deputy Chief Greg Vesta said.
He took an undisclosed amount of money, Vesta said, but no one was injured.
The thief fled on foot, and witnesses told police he may have been picked up in a car driven by a white woman, about 25 to 35 years old. Witnesses have described the car, which headed north on Ash Street, as beige, tan or gold, and police say it may be a 2000 to 2005 Dodge Intrepid.
Police describe the robber as a white or Hispanic man, about 30 years old, standing 5 feet 7 inches and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds with a black beard and black mustache.
He was wearing a baseball cap with a red logo, black rim sunglasses, a black shirt, calf-length blue jeans, and black gym shoes, officials said. They said he wore a sleeve over his left arm, possibly in an attempt to cover tattoos.
Anyone with information should call the Wood Dale investigations division at (630) 766-2060.
