Stevenson grad vies to be MasterChef

Suzy Singh, a 2001 graduate of Stevenson High School, is a contestant on the second season of Fox TV's “MasterChef.” She was among 100 hopefuls selected to travel to Los Angeles and prepare their signature dishes for host Gordon Ramsay and fellow judges Joe Bastianich and Graham Elliot.

Singh thus far has survived three rounds of cuts. The first pared the group from 100 to 38, and the second sliced the number down to 18. This week she survived the cut to 16 made on Tuesday, June 21.

Singh, whose signature dish is Tandoori Cod en Papillote with chai- and saffron-infused couscous, this year started The Spicy Chef, specializing in traditional Indian and French cuisine. She also is a senior business development executive with the Biotronic NeuroNetwork, and is an event director with the Chicago South Asian Film Festival.

She grew up in Long Grove and currently lives in Chicago.

MasterChef airs on the FOX network at 7 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays.
