The message Roskam really is sending

Our family received another one of Congressman Peter Roskam’s invitations to respond to his leadership. The glossy, full-color brochure was the second we received in a three-week period. The duplicate mailing included his railing at those who think of Washington as their credit card.

Good sentiments, except that they don’t seem to apply to Rep. Roskam’s office. Reported recently as one of the highest users of franking privileges, the congressman persists in sending our family two expensive mail blasts that seem to reveal either his arrogance about privileges or his lack of awareness about the message he’s really sending about his priorities.

Why do I sense this? The two mailings supposedly sought our opinion about — you guessed it — a balanced-budget amendment. Not the kind of thing I expect from my congressperson.
