Yes to sales tax bump in Fox River Grove
Fox River Grove is a bedroom community, with limited industrial or commercial businesses. Through proper taxes, homeowners and businesses fund the operations of our village, schools, fire department and library. Our downtown area has been a topic of conversation by residents and the village for years. Our village recently established a TIF district that will encourage redevelopment and create a modern, functional, vibrant downtown area, as desired by many of our residents. In an effort to prepare and have this come to fruition, the village will be asking residents to approve a sales tax increase from 7 percent to 7ΒΌ percent. What does this mean to you? It will add 25 cents in sales tax for every $100 you spend in town, not including food and drugs. The additional sales tax revenue generated will be used solely to upgrade our downtown infrastructure, such as water delivery systems, sidewalks and lighting.
For additional information contact your elected officials or visit www.foxrivergrove.org. Our community has supported many referendums in the past that have been beneficial and I believe that with your support, we will further improve the quality of life of our community. Please join me in voting YES to this referendum question that will be on the March 20 ballot.
