Lake Zurich, Stevenson move on

Lake Zurich 11, Rolling Meadows 0: Megan Mattera pitched the complete game, allowing 1 hit and striking out seven in the Class 4A Zion-Benton regional semifinal.

Mattera led the Bears offensively, too, going 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI. Erin Sweeney and Kelly Neisis each went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Paige Goldberg also went 2-for-3.

Stevenson 8, Buffalo Grove 2: At Highland Park, the Patriots took a 3-2 lead in the first inning and never looked back in the regional semifinal.

Amanda Jaegers and Rebekah Ozga each went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI for Stevenson (19-16), which will meet Barrington at 11 a.m. Saturday in the regional final. Genny Duffy went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Ashley Niedermayer was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored. Winning pitcher Allie Micucci belted a double in the fifth inning.

Buffalo Grove (18-18) had taken the lead in the first on a 2-run homer by Northwestern-recruit Andrea DiPrima.
