Tenors perform at Prairie Center in Schaumburg
The Prairie Center for the Arts presents The International Tenors at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 30.
The International Tenors bring opera, musical theater, operetta and pop performed by classically trained voices with a dash of humor added.
The tenors perform onstage with projected scenes and footage of Italy, Spain, and France, evoking a setting of sitting in a European cafe enjoying a performance in the piazza.
The program includes a stirring tribute to the famous tenors of the past: Enrico Caruso, the world’s first tenor superstar; Mario Lanza, Hollywood’s biggest star in the 1950s; and the world’s first true crossover tenor, Luciano Pavarotti, dubbed the voice of the century.
The trio performs beloved tenor songs and arias, including “O Sole Mio,” “La Donna Mobile” and the drinking song “Libiamo,” mixed with selections from musical theater favorites including “The Phantom of the Opera,” “West Side Story” and “Les Miserables.” The International Tenors also perform pop opera hits such as “Time to Say Goodbye” and Andrea Bocelli’s “The Prayer.”
Tickets are $20 and can be ordered by calling (847) 895-3600 or online at prairiecenter.org. The Prairie Center is located at 201 Schaumburg Court in Schaumburg. This program is sponsored by the Prairie Center Arts Foundation.
