Libertyville's Tree Lighting Tradition

A Libertyville tradition continues at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26 in downtown Libertyville with the annual Tree Lighting festivities at Cook Memorial Park. Hundreds of families and friends gather every year to celebrate the start of

the holiday season.

This annual Libertyville event, presented by the Village of Libertyville, takes place the day after Thanksgiving featuring holiday decorations, singing and entertainment, a special visit by Santa Claus, and the traditional “countdown” for the lighting of the Holiday Tree in Cook Memorial Park.

The Libertyville Heritage area and MainStreet businesses will be open for evening shopping and dining. The Ansel B. Cook Museum will be open for Holiday Tours that night conducted by the Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society.

Donna Chung of The Chung Voice Studio will be leading the singing of carols and songs.

Awards will be presented by MainStreet to the best decorated stores of downtown Libertyville. Cook Memorial Park is located in downtown Libertyville on Milwaukee Avenue between Cook and Church streets.
