Not impressed by Obama’s budget cuts
President Obama has ordered his cabinet to cut $100 million from the federal budget. Before we become too impressed by this, let’s look at the math, which is neither liberal nor conservative. His proposed budget is $3.5 trillion.
To put this in perspective, a billion is 1,000 million and a trillion is 1,000 billion. More perspective — if an ordinary citizen like you or I budgeted $4,000 a month for expenses, we would have to cut a whole 12 cents out of our budget to match President Obama’s cut. More smoke and mirrors from the president.
The Democrat-controlled Senate proposed a budget for the first time in four years and it calls for a massive increase in tax revenue that will go on to fund even more government spending.
House Republicans and Congressman Peter Roskam took our national debt and budget problems seriously by proposing a plan that will balance the budget in 10 years and actually addresses our entitlement programs. We absolutely must start bringing down our $17 trillion debt. Thank you, Peter, for taking this problem seriously.
