Schaumburg approves intersection improvements

Schaumburg officials gave consent Tuesday for a project that will add dual left turn lanes in all directions at the intersection of Schaumburg and Barrington roads.

The works also includes the addition of a traffic signal at nearby Barrington Road and Holmes Way, officials said. The Illinois Department of Transportation will provide most of the funding, Village Manager Ken Fritz said.

The project will be done in phases. The design approval and any utilities that need to be moved will be done this year. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2013.
