Schaumburg woman attacked by man with stun gun

A 26-year-old Schaumburg woman was attacked at home early Wednesday morning by a man wielding a stun gun.

Police said a man rang the woman’s doorbell on the 300 block of Falbrook Court, near Barrington and Old Church roads, about 7:15 a.m. He claimed to be a neighbor, and asked to use the bathroom as his own toilet was broken.

As soon as the woman opened the door, the man immediately tried to use a stun gun on her, police said. The woman struggled with the man and screamed to her roommate.

When the man realized that somebody else was in the home, he ran from the scene, police said.

The victim suffered only minor injuries and did not require hospitalization. Police Sgt. John Nebl said the victim was uncertain whether she’d actually been hit by the stun gun but had some redness on her neck from the struggle.

The offender is described as a white male, 45 to 55 years old, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 270 pounds.

According to the victim, he wore wire-rimmed prescription glasses, a gray pullover sweatshirt, jeans and a dark-colored stocking cap.

Schaumburg police are reminding residents to use a peep hole or window to see who is at the door before opening it. Caution should be used before allowing any stranger into one’s home, police said.

Anyone who may have seen a suspicious person or vehicle in the area Wednesday morning should call the Schaumburg Police Department’s Investigations Division at (847) 882-3534.
