Obama’s off-mic comment a concern
“This is my last election, and after my election I have more flexibility,” Obama tells Russian President Dmitri Medvedev off mic. “I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir. I stand with you,” Medvedev responds.
Was Obama telling the Russians not to worry, that once past “my last election” and no longer subject to any accountability, he will show “more flexibility” on missile defense?
Obama’s famous “reset” policy with the Russians led to the Polish/Czech missile defense system being canceled, negotiated a START treaty that they need and we don’t, and turned a blind eye to their violations of human rights and dismantling of democracy. In return, Russia watered down or obstructed sanctions on Iran, completed Iran’s nuclear reactor, provided Syria with arms shipments used to kill their own people, conducted an anti-American campaign for Vladimir Putin, pressured Eastern Europe and threaten Georgia.
Is Obama ready to offer Putin yet more flexibility as soon as he gets past his “last election”? Where else will Obama show America’s adversaries more flexibility? Can you imagine the kind of pressure Obama will put on Israel or the kind of anxiety Obama will induce from Georgia to the Persian Gulf after his “last election.” We don’t know. We didn’t know this was coming until the open mic.
Is March 26, 2012, “a date which will live in infamy” if Obama is re-elected for four more years? It’s in your hands, vote in November.
