Catholic Charities gratefully acknowledges the event sponsors to-date: The Duchossois Family Foundation (award dinner sponsor); Ultra Home Health Care (beverage cart); Northwest Community Healthcare (19th hole co-sponsor and a contest sponsor); Alexian Brothers Hospital (lunch sponsor), and Motor Werks of Barrington (hole-in-one cars). Additional sponsors are still welcome.

Catholic Charities' Senior Services mission is based on the foundation of individual dignity and worth, quality of life, self-determination and personal choice. Supportive services like Meals on Wheels, advocacy, homemaking/chore assistance are provided to help seniors maintain their independence and prevent premature nursing home placement. Social, educational and volunteer activities at the Catholic Charities Northwest Senior Center add to seniors' quality of life.

With the current increased sensitivity for veterans, Romeo Mura, Catholic Charities advisory board member and chair person for this golf event, researched the percentage of the seniors who are veterans living in the United States.

"Per the U.S. Census Bureau, the USA senior population (60 years or older) living in the USA is 52.5 million. From WW II to the Vietnam War, there are 19.2 million men and woman of the 52.5 million who have been in the armed services. Thus, at least 33 percent of our seniors served in the military from WW II to the Vietnam War. Catholic Charities does not keep this type of data on the seniors they serve in the Senior Services Program, but I feel many of the seniors we serve are men and woman who are veterans and who also served during peace times" said Romeo Mura.
