Meet Sky, eat wings, all for a good cause
The Chicago Sky will host “Get Served by the Sky” 6 to 8:30 p.m. May 31 at Buffalo Wild Wings in Mount Prospect, to raise money for the American Diabetes Association. The entire Sky team and coaching staff will wait tables and bar tend to collect tips which will be donated directly to the ADA. Additionally, Buffalo Wild Wings will contribute 10 percent of its proceeds from the event to the ADA.
The event is part of WNBA Cares Week of Service. Sky fans are invited to get autographs and photos with their favorite players, all for a tip. The entire Sky roster will be on hand including recently drafted rookies Courtney Vandersloot, Carolyn Swords, Angie Bjorklund and Amy Jaeschke as well as other new additions to the team.
At the end of the evening, the team will host a raffle where fans can win unique autographed Sky experiences and memorabilia.
Raising funds to build awareness for diabetes is a high priority for both the Sky and for Head Coach and General Manager Pokey Chatman.
“Diabetes is a serious disease that should not be taken lightly,” Chatman said. The event is a great way, “for our team to raise awareness and make a difference for others, while at the same time enabling our players and fans to get together and have some fun.”
Coach Chatman and the Sky will also host “Dribble to Stop Diabetes Night” Tuesday, July 19, when the Sky takes on reigning WNBA Champion Seattle Storm.
Buffalo Wild Wings at 301 Euclid Ave., Mount Prospect. Customers will be seated on a first come first serve basis. For more about the event, call (866) SKY-WNBA.
