Police: Man sexually abused 13-year-old Des Plaines girl
An 18-year-old Glenview man was indicted Wednesday on a charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse alleging he had sexual relations with a 13-year-old Des Plaines girl last year and gave her herpes, according to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office
Allen Giron, of the 10300 block of Michal Todd Terrace, met his victim on Facebook, authorities said.
The accusations first surfaced when the teen’s sister told police a doctor had recently diagnosed the girl with herpes.
The 13-year-old also told her sister she had at least two sexual encounters with Giron. The first took place on Nov. 28 in the women’s restroom of a fast-food restaurant in Niles. A second took place on Dec. 6 at Giron’s Glenview home, authorities said.
Police took the victim to the Children’s Advocacy Center in Hoffman Estates to speak with counselors as detectives continued their investigation into Giron.
On Jan. 13, Giron was located at his home and questioned. He later provided a written statement detailing the sexual encounters, according to Cook County Sheriff’s police.
After further interviews of family members, county prosecutors approved felony charges.
Giron’s next court date in March 9. He remained in jail Friday on a $100,000 bond.
