How about state cutting costs first?
So far, all of us that did not vote for Pritzker are experiencing exactly what we expected from him. We read about and see on TV his plans to raise taxes, primarily the gas and income taxes.
We are informed of his plans to raise the vehicle registration fees. We are inundated with the propaganda that these tax increases will help the middle class. It is difficult to see how increasing the gas tax and vehicle registration fees will help he middle class.
It is more difficult to understand how destroying the job market by assessing punitive taxes on the job creators and providers and propagating the inhospitable Illinois business climate will help the middle class. If anything, his plans will put people out of work.
If he really wanted to help the people of Illinois he would better serve us by spending more time and efforts to come up with ways to reduce unnecessary and wasteful spending. For starters how about doing something about Illinois having some of the highest property and gas taxes in the country.
How about repairing a totally out-of-control government pension system. How about consolidating school districts and eliminating grossly overpaid and unnecessary school administration positions? How about providing fair bidding for government required building, maintenance and repair work?
I could go on citing places to cut costs but it should be obvious that there are many places that this can be done.
How about it, governor? How about letting us keep our hard-earned money instead of working on ways to take more money from us?
