Lombard man pleads guilty to child porn charge

A Lombard man admitted in court Friday to downloading child pornography.

Daniel M. Plume, 31, of the 2700 block of Highland Avenue, pleaded guilty to child pornography possession stemming from an online sting by Wheaton police.

Prosecutors said investigators monitoring online file sharing pinpointed child pornography being downloaded to Plume’s computer in June 2009.

The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant in which authorities recovered a pornographic video involving an 8-year-old boy from Plume’s home computer, Assistant DuPage County State’s Attorney Demetri Demopoulos said.

“He admitted he had seen that particular image on his computer,” Demopoulos said in court Friday.

Plume is expected to be sentenced to two years of probation at an April 12 sentencing hearing, according to the terms of a preliminary agreement with prosecutors.

He also must register as a sex offender for life, pay a $1,000 fine, undergo a psychological assessment and avoid contact with children, prosecutors said.

Judge George Bakalis agreed to allow Plume to travel to the St. Louis area, where he plans to live, according to his attorney. Prosecutors said he had no prior criminal history.
