Ex-Bull Kendall Gill wows kids in Lisle

Sure, he's been out of the league for a few years, so the kids wondered if Kendall Gill could still dunk a basketball.

He can and he did.

Gill, a 15-year NBA player including one season with the Bulls and current Bulls TV analyst, is among the Bulls alumni appearing this week at the Bulls/Sox Training Academy in Lisle.

Gill, also a star at the University of Illinois, was asked by one of the 90 youngsters in attendance at the basketball camp about his training regimen as a youngster.

“I took 300 shots a day,” he said. “I didn't take any days off. It didn't matter how hot it was, I knew I had to get my work in, which was one to two hours every day.”

Gill added, “You need to have a great work ethic not just to be the best basketball player, but to achieve other goals in your life too.”

Larry Stewart, GM of basketball operations, also shared some words of wisdom about character he learned from his father: “If you show me your friends, I'll show you your future.”
