Chicago Dutch Lions FC kicks off summer 2023 season, spotlights local semi-pro talent

Semi-professional soccer team Chicago Dutch Lions FC has announced its 2023 summer season, providing the western suburbs with high-level soccer that features top talent from local communities.

With a men's and women's team that boasts players from esteemed clubs from secondary school and undergraduate-level teams around the country, including 48 players from the western suburbs, Chicago Dutch Lions FC aims to provide a sense of community for players and fans alike.

Founded in 2020, Chicago Dutch Lions FC is the seventh out of 10 clubs in the national Dutch Lions FC organization and has already made waves in the semi-professional soccer community.

This summer, Chicago Dutch Lions FC is continuing its legacy at Aurora University's Spartan Stadium, playing a total of 12 home games throughout the summer.

The first men's game of the season against Springfield ASC was an away game on Tuesday, May 23.

Following the opening game, the men's team played a home game at Aurora University on May 26 against the Des Moines Menace.

The Chicago Dutch Lions FC men's team is led by head coach Enzo Fuschino and assistant coach Dimitri Tsoukalas. "This summer we're expecting some amazing games from our roster of players. We're playing some great teams which should be great competition for Chicago Dutch Lions," says Coach Enzo. The team will feature players from nearby neighborhoods, including Aurora, Naperville, Bartett, Aurora, Geneva, South Elgin, Arlington Heights, Wheaton and more. This year, the Chicago Dutch Lions women's team will be led by Coach Dan Cross and assistant coach Carson Davenport. Prior to joining the Chicago Dutch Lions, Cross served as a soccer coach at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL. "I'm very excited about this season for the Chicago Dutch Lions.
