Hawthorn elementary students look forward to college graduation
Hawthorn Elementary North students are reaching for the stars, through a yearlong program emphasizing each child looking to the day when they have successfully completed college.
The entire school has been involved in a Bernstein Artful Learning unit summarized by the phrase, “I believe,” which reminds students they an achieve beyond their dreams.
Throughout the year, students and teachers will tie learning and activities back to the overarching theme, which was introduced with an all-school celebration Oct. 12 that featured the encouraging words and songs of motivational speaker Victor Pacini.
During the assembly, students were reminded of the importance of respect for self and community, setting goals, working hard and believing in oneself. To help reinforce the message, each child received a T-shirt featuring the date they will graduate from college.
To further mark the exciting day, Elementary North students organized themselves into a giant “EN” to represent their school.
