Mt. Prospect family bike ride

The Mount Prospect Police Department, the special events commission, the park district and River Trails Park district all invite residents to the Mount Prospect Family Bike Ride, a 10-mile tour around the village on Aug. 28.

Starting at Melas Park, the free event offers both 10-mile and 5-mile courses and a 11/4-mile shortie. Register at 9 a.m.; the rides begin at 9:30 a.m. The first 200 participants get free T-shirts and goody bags; raffle prizes will be drawn after the race. Preregistration is recommended, but registration can also be done the day of the event.

Preregister at the River Trails Park District, 1500 E. Euclid Ave., or Lions Recreation Center, 411 S. Maple St.
