Waubonsie Valley at Naperville Central

Nonconference

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Last year: Naperville Central 17, Waubonsie Valley 10

Outlook: Returning Waubonsie Valley linebackers Austin Lacke and Tommy Wooten will be motivated after Naperville Central’s 89-yard touchdown drive to win. Perhaps the best tactic is to keep Warriors running back Austin Guido on the field. Coach Paul Murphy has said quarterbacks Mitch Stefani and Dylan Warden will both play to sort things out. Five defensive starters return for the Redhawks led by lineman Zach Borta and linebacker John Dulleck, who aim to slow Guido and the Warriors. Naperville Central is expecting big things from quarterback Ian Lewandowski and all-DuPage Valley Conference running back Matt Randolph, starting with this opener.

Next week: Oswego at Waubonsie Valley; Neuqua Valley at Naperville Central.
