Shine on, Harvest Moon bike ride in Palatine
The Palatine Park District and the Bike Palatine Club will host the Harvest Moon Bike Ride, starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20.
This 7.5-mile evening ride, new this year, will begin at the Palatine Hills Golf Course, 512 W. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, on the north side of the street, between Smith and Quentin.
The ride will follow part of the Palatine Trail and neighboring streets, ending at the clubhouse where food and beverages will be available for purchase at the clubhouse restaurant. A limited number of Harvest Moon Bike Ride long-sleeve T-shirts will also be available for $12.
The fee for the ride is $5 for residents and $6 for nonresidents; preregistration is available using code 6705-3. Registration can be completed online at www.palatineparks.org, by mail, by fax, or in person at Community Center, Birchwood Recreation Center, and Falcon Park Recreation Center. Helmets and lights are required for all riders.
This event is for riders ages 16 and over, and all registered riders will get a raffle ticket and goody bag. Additional raffle tickets will be available for purchase after the ride. Raffle prizes for the Harvest Moon Bike Ride have been donated by Mikes Bike Shop, the Palatine Police Department, New Belgium Brewing and the Palatine Park District.
