Sectional title to Stevenson

Deerfield sectional: On Thursday, Stevenson rolled to its second straight sectional title and 13th in program history, and qualified two singles players and two doubles teams for next week’s state tournament.

Wan Wan Liu beat teammate Taylor Seplowin for the singles title, 21-16, 21-14, while Emily Cai and Yein Lee defeated Shree Dash and Caroline Moy for the doubles championship, 21-17, 21-18. Liu will be making her fourth straight state tournament appearance. She has qualified in singles the last three seasons after advancing in doubles as a freshman. Seplowin and Cai will be making their second appearance. They qualified as a doubles team in 2011.

All of Stevenson’s sectional championships have come under coach Mike Fitzgerald, who is in his 25th year at the helm.
