McHenry County wasting our money

It is a disturbing reality to see wasteful government spending at a time when we, the people, are told to tighten our belts.

In Illinois, taxpayers are facing a 66-percent hike in income tax because the state can’t pay its bills. The state needs a balanced budget. Illinois should follow the simple rule that our parents taught us: Don’t spend money you don’t have. Spend what you have wisely.

This brings up another expensive reality — wasteful spending here in McHenry County. I am referring to this ridiculous wild goose chase run by Special Prosecutor Henry Tonigan. He is trying to destroy the amazing work and reputation of hardworking State’s Attorney Lou Bianchi. Bianchi is an elected county official who works until the job is done. His office advocates for the people, not for the favored few.

He continues to find ways to utilize new and existing programs to save money for the county.

Unfortunately, the favored few have bent the ear of Tonigan at our expense. Somehow this special prosecutor is able to keep the investigation open without anyone questioning where the $220,000 is going. Once again, we are asked to pay for government’s mistakes.
