Arlington Heights police seek information about dead man
Arlington Heights police are asking for the public’s help trying to put together the events that led to a man being found dead in his car late last week.
Scott Verden, 50, was discovered dead in the trunk of his car in the 2100 block of East Park Street about 4 p.m. Friday. There were no apparent signs of trauma and an autopsy performed on Sunday was inconclusive, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. The cause of death is now pending toxicology results, which may take several weeks.
“We don’t suspect foul play at all, we just want to get a good timeline for his activities,” Arlington Heights Police Cmdr. Mike Hernandez said Tuesday.
Hernandez said the department had received a few calls from neighbors concerned about safety, but he added there is no danger to the community. He said the department put out a request for the public’s help Tuesday as a means to further the investigation.
“We’re still trying to reconstruct his activities from the day before, so if anybody has information on what he was doing on Thursday, we’d like to know,” Hernandez said.
The home where Verden’s car and body were found belongs to his parents, his sister, Susan Verden of Evergreen, Colo., said last week. She said he had been struggling with personal issues for a long time.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Hernandez at (847) 368-5338.
