Autopsy inconclusive for Arlington Heights man found Friday

An autopsy on an Arlington Heights man who was found in a car on Friday afternoon was inconclusive about the cause of his death, officials said Saturday afternoon.

Scott Verden, 50, was found in the trunk of a car parked in the 2100 block of East Park Street, said Arlington Heights Police Sgt. Scott Winkelman. There were no apparent signs of trauma.

That's his parents' home, said his sister, Susan Verden of Evergreen, Colo. She said he had been struggling with personal “issues” for a long time. “I hope he rests in peace. Now, hopefully he'll be able to rest,” she said, declining to give more details.

Lottie Verden, Scott Verden's mother, declined to comment.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office said a ruling on Verden's cause of death is pending toxicology results and will take several weeks to be confirmed. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:02 p.m.

Winkelman said the investigation is ongoing. There is no threat to the neighborhood, authorities said.
