Lake Arlington path gets more dangerous

The path around Lake Arlington has become a dangerous obstacle course. No longer is it safe for families, young children, babies in strollers or seniors to simply walk around the lake.

Between the hours of 7 and 8 p.m. especially, the path becomes fair game to speeding rollerbladers and cyclists who plow right through groups of walkers including small children and baby strollers at terrifying speeds. I have personally witnessed collisions with injuries.

There are plenty of rules posted at intervals including the “8 mph” rule, but what good are rules when there is no one there to enforce them?

Please send some help soon before we see a fatality. There must be something that the park district can do to resolve this dangerous situation. The residents of Arlington Heights deserve better — give us a safe place to walk on summer evenings.
