Korea's BCcard to be accepted on Discover network
Riverwoods-based Discover Financial Services and South Korea's BCcard have partnered to allow BC cardholders to make purchases and access cash outside Korea.
Under the agreement announced Thursday in Honolulu, BC Global Card members now have the ability to use their cards on the Discover, Diners Club and PULSE networks.
Founded in 1982, BCcard has issued about 54 million cards.
Korea Tourism Organization says Korean cardholders spent more than more than $13 billion outside of Korea in 2010.
Koreans are also the fourth largest source of international visitors to Hawaii.
First Hawaiian Bank will be the first Hawaii bank to accept the BC Global Card through its network of over 7,500 merchant locations as well as through its nearly 300 ATMs in Hawaii, Guam and Saipan.
