Your news: St. Anne’s adds Early 3’s Preschool for 2011-12

Based on the results of community outreach, St. Anne School, Barrington, has developed an Early 3’s Preschool program to begin in the 2011-2012 school year.

This program specifically targets children in the community who are not eligible for a traditional 3-year–old preschool program because their birthdays fall on or after Sept. 1.

Sister Ann Busch, St. Anne’s principal, said, “We are very excited to offer an Early 3’s Preschool educational program for 2011-2012. Our goal is to provide a developmentally appropriate program that addresses the need expressed by our school families to prepare their young children for the preschool program.”

This new school program will start in September 2011 and take place from 8:30-11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the school year.

Early preschool teachers and creators are Nancy Meehan and Rebecca Cole, both with advanced educational degrees.

Meehan, also the preschool coordinator, contends that parents may not fully realize the impact early education has on a child.

“A structured Early 3’s education program, properly paced, will have long-lasting positive effects on a child. Those effects may or may not be realized immediately, but will be apparent when there are more difficult school transition periods such as middle school and high school.”

St. Anne’s School, a nationally recognized “Blue Ribbon School,” is hosting an open house for families in Barrington and the surrounding communities from 10 a.m.-noon Sunday, Jan. 30, and 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1.
