Making blankets for veterans: Aurora church to host volunteers, clothing depot

Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora will host a nonprofit that makes fleece blankets for veterans.

Starting Tuesday, Jan. 17, Wesley UMC will welcome Veterans Outreach of Illinois volunteers to its building at 14 N. May St.

Pastor John Bell said, "Beginning on Jan. 17 and then every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., volunteers will be making fleece blankets at Wesley. All are welcome to lend a helping hand to this project!"

On the last Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon, Veterans Outreach also will host a clothing depot at Wesley to provide quality, clean clothing to veterans in need.

According to a statement from Veterans Outreach, they are raising money and gathering resources to be able to build communities for homeless veterans in Illinois that help them transition out of homelessness within two years.
