Activities slated at Turner Center
“Opera in Pop Culture,” “Be-Well” Lecture Series, and “Jazz Before Sunrise” are three of the many upcoming activities slated at the Patty Turner Center (PTC), in June. On Tuesday, June 18, from 1:30-2:30 p.m., Opera in Pop Culture with Opera Enthusiast Bob Levi is offered. Fee is $10 for PTC Members and $12 for Non-Members. Advanced registration is required.
On Wednesday, June 19, at 2:00 p.m., Dominick's “Be-Well” Lecture Series takes place. This FREE seminar will cover “Avoiding Medication Errors.” Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
And, on Friday, June 28, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., Patty Turner Center presents, “Jazz Before Sunrise.” This event is presented as part of the Center's Members Morning Breakfast. “The Rose Colella Trio” performs for the first time at this activity. Chicago-based singer Rose Colella is a veteran of quite of a few of the Windy City's jazz clubs and bistros, and has a smooth, alluring voice. The trio, featuring guitarist Dan Effland and bassist Joe Policastro is a splendid showcase for Collella's artistry. Colella comes by her love of song quite honestly. Her grandmother, and label namesake, Lola Bard, was a 1930s singer who recorded with Bobby Hackett and The Dixieland Jazz Band. Fee for this event is $12 per PTC Member / $17 Nonmember.
