Fox Lake man arrested on gun, weapons charges after threatening bartender, police say
A Fox Lake man faces various gun and weapon charges after police say he threatened a bartender.
Frank ByBee, 45, of the 35000 block of Sheridan Drive, was charged May 5 with unlawful use of a weapon, disorderly conduct and possession of a firearm and ammunition without a firearm owners identification card, Fox Lake Police Lt. Mark Schindler said.
ByBee is held in Lake County jail and is expected back in court June 13, Schindler said.
Police were called to the Dwight House Pub in the 35000 block of Frontage Road at 2:07 p.m. after ByBee used a knife to sharpen a stick. He then plunged the stick into a football he had brought with him, Schindler said.
Bybee also removed a book from his backpack and slashed it with the knife, Schindler said, and he pulled out a martial arts weapon called a nunchuck and threatened the male bartender with it.
ByBee left the bar and rode a bicycle to his home in the Hilldale Manor subdivision. He refused to come out when police officers arrived to speak with him, Schindler said.
Eventually, officers from Fox Lake and the Lake County Sheriff's Office convinced ByBee to come outside, where he was arrested without incident, Schindler said.
A search of ByBee's home revealed a loaded .357 magnum handgun and several martial arts weapons including knives, swords and nunchucks. The items were seized by Fox Lake police.
His bond information was unknown Thursday.
